PCC Road Trip Hosted by Les and Kelly Rhoades
2025 Route 66 Mother Road Festival, Springfield IL

Six couples from our corvette club drove to Springfield Illinois, all excited to attend the 2025 Route 66 Mother Road Festival. (Sept. 24-29) We were on a 6-day road trip adventure to see the land of President Lincoln and travel along some of old Route 66.  We saw many sights and attractions: a section of old Route 66, now a rough two-lane brick road, and Silo mural, Sugar Creek Covered Bridge, Route 66 Mother Road Festival weekend events, like the 2000+  Friday night vehicle parade in Springfield, We attended Saturday’s 1100+ car show in downtown Springfield, many museums visited, President Lincoln’s home and neighborhood,  American Giants Museum, lots of Murals in all the small towns, A private tour of the Ace Sign Co. Sign Museum in Springfield, Some of us visited a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home, we paid our respects at the Lincoln’s family Tomb, the newly famous Route 66 Legends Neon Park (at night), eating a corn dog at the Cozy Dog Drive-In, drinking a morning coffee while devouring lots of glazed donuts from Mel-O-Cream Donuts, We drove around Route 66’s notorious Dead Man’s Curve, visited the Pontiac Oakland Auto Museum, and more! All this, while covering just about 156 +/- miles of Old Route 66 in Illinois.

Illinois stops: Mt Olive, Auburn, Chatham, IL, Springfield, New Salem, Williamsville, Lincoln, Atlanta, Bloomington, Normal, Towanda, Lexington, Pontiac, and more.
