On Sunday October 16th the Plateau Corvette Club members were invited by the new owners of the Custard Cabin Ice Cream Shop in Fairfield Glade to bring their cars for a local “Corvette Only” show. They offered special pricing for us and those who stop by during those hours to enjoy looking at the vehicles.

Saturday September 24h Club members Claudia and Dan lead a small group of members to the Somernites Cruise In held in Somerset, KY. It was their 150th Cruise In and Plateau Corvette Club was there to represent our club! There were over 240 Corvettes that participated in the cruise-in, along with 834 additional show vehicles parked outside of the “Corvette Only Showcase Area”. After lunch they went back to Burnside and lined up with lots of other Corvettes for The Rattlesnake ride – 326 curves in 74 miles through the Daniel Boone National Forest. The ride stopped at the Cumberland Falls State Park where they got some really nice pictures of the falls. The ride back to town didn’t disappoint – nice roads, lots of curves and finished up at Somerset Mall Parking lot where the Friday Night Thunder Block Party and Cruise In was in FULL swing!.
Thanks to Claudia and Dan for leading. Thanks to Roger and Kathy for the photos.
September 28th several Club member’s took a spirited ride on the back roads of Tennessee to Uncle Gus’s Barbeque in Ten Mile Tn. for lunch. Then after lunch they took another cool route back home. They enjoyed some early fall colors and a beautiful day in the sunshine
Thanks to John and Reggie, Dennis and Carol for leading and the photos.
On September 10th, a small group of our members got together for a Drive and Dine to the Top of the Rock restaurant in Jasper, Tennessee. They set out under cloudy skies, which briefly turned to rain, but it didn’t stop them from having a good time! The restaurant has good food, great service and OUTSTANDING VIEWS! After lunch, they headed over to the Lodge Factory Store for a little shopping. If you are looking for an idea for a nice place to go, it won’t disappoint – and if you pick a sunny day, the views will be even better – the Tennessee River and the Nickajack Dam!
Thanks to Roger and Kathy for the drive and Photos!!
Saturday September 17th Plateau Corvette Club members participated in a Car Parade around Fairfield Glade to support “MAKE ALZHEIMER’S A MEMORY” After the drive club members enjoyed lunch at Spike’s Sports Grille on Peavine road.

It was a Wet and Rainy weekend when several Plateau Corvette Club members joined the East Tennessee Corvette Club in Gatlinburg Tenn. for their 43rd Annual Vette Fest. The theme this year was Corvette Pirates. They held a car show with judging for best of class. On Saturday night they had a live band playing songs from the 70’s and 80’s.
Dr. Seuss described the weather in Crossville Friday, “The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house, all that cold, cold, wet day.” – That was true for our members living in the Crossville area that were unable to meet early Friday morning in Monterey to join us for a spirited ride along some twisty Tennessee backroads on our way to eat the award winning, #1 – “Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken” – their motto – “If you haven’t eaten at Gus’s, you haven’t eaten fried chicken”. For the 15 members who traveled with us, we enjoyed picture perfect weather all the way to Knoxville and almost all the way back before the skies opened up and it rained, but just briefly.
The curvy roads were fun (see the short video Kathy posted on the Plateau Corvette Club FB page) and enjoyed by drivers and passenger’s alike; the staff at Gus’s was friendly and served us promptly; the chicken was delicious and seasoned well – a stop at Gus’s is in order if you are ever in the area (or near one of the other 34 locations across the United States). After lunch, we had an opportunity to drive by the University of Tennessee, saw a starship delivery bot (see the picture), Neyland Stadium, World’s Fair Park, and Kingston City Park. The ride ended when several of us stopped for Ice Cream at the Custard Cabin in Crossville.
Thanks to Roger and Kathy for leading and the photos
A small group of Plateau Corvette Club members got together last Friday for a beautiful drive through the countryside headed towards Murfreesboro. On the way, we stopped to see the Twin Falls and then the Great Falls at Rock Island State Park – we even took a drive around the beach area – did you know that they truck in sand so that there is an actual beach to enjoy?
Back on the route, we enjoyed some hills and curves along the way to Cathay Asian Bistro where some of us ordered their all you can eat sushi which was very good, and some of us ordered traditional Chinese – which was also very good. Our route back home was a spirited drive though the curves – stopping in Cookeville for – you guessed it – ICE CREAM! Is there any better way to end a great day with friends?
Thanks to Roger and Kathy for a fun drive and the photos
August 8 the Plateau Corvette Club members began their Epic Road Trip to Bristol Tennessee where they will spend the week. They will be visiting and touring Bristol Motor Speedway, the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, attending a live concert, visiting a winery, and perhaps a mystery dinner theater
They are off to Conquer some of the rides of the Southern Dozen!!
Thanks to Roger and Kathy J for leading!
Day three: It’s Bristol Baby! Toured Bristol Speedway today, drove 3 laps (not in our cars ), visited the owner’s suite and ended up on the finish line! We also went into the town of Bristol, toured a Distillery, a brewery and The Home of Country Music Museum. Also some great food at The Mad Greek ! Back to driving tomorrow.
