The plan for October 22 Tech Talk, hosted by Ted and Angie, was simple: meet at Casa Grande on Peavine Road in Crossville for lunch, then gather in their garage for an afternoon of Corvette tips, tricks, and conversation.
But when the weather is picture perfect and the roads are calling, Corvette owners have a way of improving on even the best plans!
A small group of members from Sparta, consisting of four Corvettes and eight club members, met at 9:30 a.m. and, after a brief driver’s meeting, headed toward Crossville via some of our favorite back roads. The morning “curve therapy” provided the perfect start to what would turn out to be an outstanding day.
Upon arriving at Casa Grande, the Sparta group joined other club members for a delicious lunch filled with good food and great conversation. Afterward, a gleaming parade of Corvettes caravaned to Ted and Angie’s home, where everyone circled up to begin the Tech Talk.
Although there was no formal guest speaker, the discussion was anything but short on information. Members shared experiences, ideas, and recommendations on a wide variety of topics, including:
🔹 Lighting solutions for illuminating the “Team Chevy” logo on C8 Corvettes
🔹 Throttle controllers and the immediate response they provide
🔹 Using YouTube videos as a valuable resource for DIY installations and modifications
🔹 The benefits and practical uses of the built-in Performance Data Recorder (PDR)
🔹 Favorite window-cleaning products and techniques
🔹 The importance of Top Tier fuels and additives to help keep engines performing their best
🔹 Carbon fiber and carbon flash accessories and modifications
The discussion was lively and engaging, with questions, answers, experiences, and plenty of friendly banter flowing freely among the group. One of the best things about Tech Talks is that everyone leaves having learned something new, whether they’re a seasoned Corvette owner or a first-time enthusiast.
Following the discussion, Ted and Angie treated everyone to refreshments and fellowship before members began heading their separate directions. Some pointed their Corvettes toward home, while others followed Roger on one final spirited cruise through the beautiful Tennessee curves. The day wrapped up with a well-earned stop at Dairy Queen, where ice cream, laughter, and stories provided the perfect ending to a terrific day.
A huge thank you to Ted and Angie for opening their home and hosting this month’s Tech Talk, and thank you to Roger for organizing both the pre- and post-Tech Talk rides that were enjoyed by all.
If you missed this month’s Tech Talk, you missed a good one! We hope to see you at the next gathering.
Enjoy a few photos (thanks to Ted & Kathy) from a beautiful day of Corvettes, learning, fellowship, and fun!
