The Plateau Corvette Club members headed out for an adventure on Monday, September 18th – As they embarked on a scenic, curvy ride through the mountains and hills of Tennessee, en-route to the Stolen Coin Oyster Bar and Bistro in Gainesboro , Tennessee, where they stopped for lunch before hitting the curves and enjoying the beautiful scenery on their way back home. Great weather and great friends!

Several Plateau Corvette Club members participated in the Alzheimer’s of Tennessee Event on Saturday, September 16th held at the Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church. There were donation coin cans next to each Corvette on display. People added money into the coin can and the Corvette Can with
the most money, is the ‘Favorite Corvette’. The money was then donated to Alzheimer’s.

On September 13th 18 Club Members plus one guest (for a total of 19) traveling in 11 Corvettes, headed out together along Tennessee’s beautiful two-lane backroads for a day filled with fun and adventure to the Top of the Rock Restaurant in Jasper, TN. If you’ve never been to the “Top of the Rock” you really should try it! From their deck, you look out over the valley at the Tennessee River and the Nickajack Dam. Across the river to the east, you are looking at Georgia and to the south, Alabama. After lunch, we took a short drive over to the Lodge Factory Store. Although many of us enjoyed the shopping, we didn’t get to see the “World’s Largest Cast Iron Skillet” We ended the day, with ice cream of course – at Ember’s Ice Cream in Pikeville, Tennessee.

At the Thursday night meeting of the Plateau Corvette Club, Club treasurer Dom Janusky presented a check to Alicia Ricketts, Manager of Fair Park Senior Center. Thursday September 7th Plateau Corvette Club members participated in the Cumberland County High School Homecoming Parade from the High School up Main Street and back to the school. Great turn out and met a lot of great kids at the school. Thanks to all for the great photos!

Day 1: Sunday, 8/20/23
We had 7 cars meet us in Cookeville for this awesome adventure. Our first stop was Hawthorn Hill & Wynnewood State Historic Site. These were very nicely restored. The largest, Wynnewood, was an 1828 Inn, the largest existing log structure in TN. We then traversed our way over to Paris, TN for a quick stop at the Eiffel Tower.

Day 2: Monday, 8/21/23
This day was all about traveling to our final destination, Harrison, AK. However, we did make a stop at Reelfoot Lake Visitor’s Center for some up close viewing of wildlife and an informative discussion with a Ranger.

Day 3: Tuesday, 8/22/23
We had a beautiful ride in the morning then enjoyed some sightseeing in the afternoon. Thorncrown Chapel was beautiful, Christ of the Ozarks was huge, and the Eureka Springs Tram Tour was very informative. It provided us the opportunity to view some residential areas and the downtown area of Eureka Springs without trying to navigate on the narrow streets. It’s very obvious that Eureka Springs is an older, well cared for town.

Day 4: Wednesday, 8/23/23
Our first stop this morning was the Grand Canyon of Arkansas. It was an awesome site to behold. In the afternoon, we visited the Buffalo River Historic Jail & Museum. The Marshall, AR Chamber of Commerce representative was very happy to educate us about this interesting facility.

Day 5: Thursday, 8/24/23
Another scenic ride in the morning, and sightseeing in the afternoon. We visited the Walmart Museum right after lunch and finished the day at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. There are some very old paintings as well as current abstract art. The museum has spent the time and money to relocate a Frank Lloyd Wright house to their facility. They are also in the process of doubling the size of the museum, which is already quite large and free to the public.

Day 6: Friday, 8/25/23
This was our last day to view the beautiful countryside of the Ozarks so that’s exactly what we did. It was the most scenic ride of the whole trip.

I haven’t mentioned the food because we ate at some delicious restaurants every day. There was everything from BBQ, Fish, Steak, Pizza, Mexican, Italian, and Greek.

As we’ve said before, our thanks go out to Roger and Kathy for all of their hard work in organizing this event.

August 24-26 several Plateau Corvette Club members attended Corvettes at Carlisle, at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds. It is the largest all-Corvette-themed car show in the world with over 5000 Corvettes on display. Corvettes at Carlisle also welcomes Team Chevrolet and their amazing staff of Corvette engineers to go over the latest features of the new Corvette. They had the new E-Ray and explained all the cool features.. The fairgrounds was packed and offers a huge automotive flea market with a wide variety of vendors, an all-Corvette car corral, and more.

Saturday, August 12th members of the Plateau Corvette Club in 11 Corvettes attended Swing on Brewing Company’s  Second Annual Car Show. 

Although the weather didn’t cooperate, everyone had a fun day!

9 Plateau Corvette Club members in 5 Corvettes got together for Jerry & Marsha Pop up Adventure ride, “Taking it easy Tuesday” where we headed to Sauced Crafted in Pineview, Kentucky.

Jerry put together a nice backroads drive there and back, curvy, relaxing and fun! The weather started out a little cloudy, and at one point, we even got just a few rain drops – but they didn’t last long. By the end of the day the sun was shining and everyone was smiling!

Lunch at Sauced Crafted was excellent!  Most of us had the pizza, which was assembled in front of you.  This process was described by one of our members  as the  “Subway for Pizzas”.  Also available were salads, breadsticks, pasta and dessert.  One of the owners came out and talked to us, explained the ordering process and thanked us for coming out.  She was gracious and friendly and encouraged us to come back.  If you are ever in the area, it is worth a stop.

The day ended at Sonic in Wartberg where some of us stopped for ice cream and good conversation with friends before heading home for the day!

Sunday, July 23rd six Plateau Corvette Club members in 3 Corvettes headed out for a beautiful Sunday Drive n Dine to Monell’s at the Manor in Nashville. The weather was perfect with a slight breeze and bright sunny skies that lit up the clouds, making them look 3-dimensional – just breathtaking! When we arrived at Monell’s we parked and went inside.  Once at the table, the food came fast and furious.  It was delicious as usual, Our menu included their famous Skillet Fried Chicken, BBQ Ribs, Pot Roast (with gravy, potatoes, carrots, and onions), Stuffed Spinach Lasagna Shells, green beans, corn pudding, mashed  potatoes, mac n cheese, turnip greens, cornbread, biscuits and gravy, cold salads and pecan pie for dessert – beverage was also included.    It wasn’t long until we were given the “Meal Ticket” cards that say “Please Pay Cashier”  and “I’ve eaten and I can’t get up”  We exited the restaurant, got in our cars and headed off to Nolensville High School, for their Football Kick Off Party and 12th Knight Car Show. 

 

Upon arrival, we were directed to the parking area and met up with Mike & Connie and Callie, (their granddaughter) who were already there. We lined up our cars and then grabbed our chairs and went off across the parking lot in search of a nice shady spot where we could watch the cars and sit and talk while we enjoyed the light breeze while waiting for the judges to “do their thing”.

At the conclusion of the car show, both Mike Ingrassia (Best Muscle Car) & Avery Conley (Best in Show Modern [2000 – present]) were awarded trophy’s for their beautiful vehicles.
